LA WOMEN
One of the biggest breakout acts, LA Women is back again with a brand new single, “Novocaine”. Out today via Universal Music Australia / Island Records UK, “Novocaine” is an addictive listen oozing elements of RnB, soul, and funk, taking the listener on a mesmeric groove-heavy journey.
Dubbed as the most ‘LA Women’ sounding single out of their growing discography, the latest track is a breathe-easy pop number, dripping funk flavour and peppered with starry-eyed keys that cut through the track. A mellowed beat melds with smooth vocals from the band’s lead singer, Jake, electrified by an oscillating bassline to keep the movement strong. A mid-tempo groover, “Novocaine” simultaneously bubbles a steady and uplifting melody that engulfs the listener from the outset. “Novocaine” follows a continuous catalog of releases from the three-piece outfit. With their EP, I was admiring her through a series of precision cut mirrors, released in 2018 and string of singles under their belt that have stacked up over 8 million streams on Spotify alone, LA Women’s passion for making modern age soulful RnB/pop is clear and effortless. The band has come a long way since their formation in 2016, quickly making a name for themselves on an international level with recognition from tastemakers including MTV, Complex UK, Happy Mag to name a few. With the momentum going strong, the new single, “Novocaine”, gives a taste of what’s to come for LA Women in 2020. |
